As Executive Vice President of Preconstruction Services & Business Development, Rusty leads our strategic efforts to secure new clients and new projects. He is responsible for the operations budget throughout the entire preconstruction phase. Rusty also supervises all estimating and schedule development. In addition, he analyzes project logistics and value engineering throughout all phases of the construction management process.

Thomas and Hutton

Steve Dudash is a landscape architect and the Regional Director of the Charleston office for Thomas & Hutton, a community consulting and professional services firm serving the Southeast for 70 years with offices located in Charleston, Charlotte, Columbia, Myrtle Beach, and Greenville, South Carolina; Savannah and Brunswick, Georgia; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Nashville, Tennessee.  Steve has 352 years of experience in land-use planning, master planning, and landscape architecture.  His projects have won numerous design awards while meeting the highest current code and design standards and sustainable practices. All projects focus on the balance of Nature, Habitat, Walkability and Health.


Some of Steve’s design projects include Daniel Island, Beresford Hall, I’On Village, OlmstedChicora Park, RiverTowne, Shem Creek Park in the Charleston Area, and Lake Carolina in Columbia and Grand Haven in Palm Coast. Fla.


Steve is the Chair of the LCRT Mass Transit Advocacy Committee and a Member of One Region.

He also co-chairs the ULI Reality Community Growth Forum and is a member of the Charleston Metro Chamber Board of Directors & Executive Committee.


Charleston Regional Development Alliance

Steve is the Vice President of Global Competitiveness with the Charleston Regional Development Alliance (CRDA), a public/private economic development partnership that serves as a catalyst for long-term regional prosperity by attracting the world’s best companies, talent and entrepreneurs. 


Steve serves as CRDA's chief strategist, utilizing his experience in corporate brand management to oversee research and planning initiatives that guide regional economic development and inform branding, marketing and business development initiatives. He also works to convene and connect stakeholders throughout the Charleston region to align and strengthen efforts related to key economic development issues and the community’s competitive edge. 


He also serves on the Advisory Board for the College of Charleston’s School of Professional Studies, a program that administers undergraduate, continuing education and professional certification programs for adult learners.

Steve's career includes more than 25 years in the marketing communications field, where he provided brand planning services for such global brands as Ritz-Carlton, Dow Corning, CNN and Coca-Cola. Immediately prior to joining the CRDA team, he was partner in the Atlanta marketing firm Sawyer Riley Compton. 

A native of Ninety Six, South Carolina, Steve is a College of Charleston graduate with a degree in business administration. He and his wife Jan returned to the area in 2005, and enjoy travel, hiking and live music.


Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce

Erica serves as the Regional Government Relations Director for the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce.  In this role, she works with elected officials to advance the Chamber’s local advocacy agenda in City of North Charleston, Town of Mount Pleasant, City of Goose Creek, City of Hanahan and Dorchester County.


Prior to this role, Erica served as the director of Charleston Young Professionals, a regional initiative designed to build community leaders through professional development, business connections and regional engagement.


Erica is a recipient of Charleston Regional Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 award, a Furman University Riley Institute Diversity Fellow, a former Honorary Commander at Joint Base Charleston and a graduate of Leadership Charleston. She was also named one of the 50 Most Influential People of 2017 by Charleston Business Magazine.


She holds a Bachelor’s in Integrated Marketing Communication from Winthrop University and a Master of Business Administration from The Citadel.


Origin Development Partners

Zach has an extensive background in real estate entitlement, design, development and construction. After graduating from the University of Georgia, he started his career with Seamon Whiteside+Associates, a Planning and Civil Engineering Firm. During his time at SW+A, Zach served as the Director of Client Services and focused his efforts on zoning entitlements, due-diligence and site development. He also worked with a commercial

general prior to founding Origin Development Partners. His project management, business development, design and commercial construction experience has led him to build relationships with key partners throughout the Southeast. Zach currently focuses on new project generation and development activities for the firm.

JANET BATES (moderator)

CF Evans Construction/NAWIC Palmetto Chapter

Janet Bates is the Director of Business Development & Marketing at CF Evans Construction. Janet is the President of the newly formed NAWIC (National Association of Women in Construction) Palmetto Chapter of South Carolina, and is a former board member of CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) Charleston. 


Janet holds her MBA in General Management and Sustainable Enterprise from the University of North Carolina Kenan Flagler Business School and her BA in Theatre and Dramatic Literature from The George Washington University. A graduate of the Tuck School of Business Bridge Program at Dartmouth, Janet previously worked at Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corporation, and at Fathom, an agency known for its award-winning brand development and creative material.
