Join us as we hear from Sundi Smith Herring!

Sundi has over 20 years of experience working in the non-profit industry  working with cancer patients, as well as hospitality homes for both the Ronald McDonald House Charities, and the American Cancer Society. She is a Certified House Professional (C.H.P.) by the National Association of Hospital Hospitality Houses, and holds a B.A. in History from Emory and Henry College in Virginia.

With the American Cancer Society since 2001, Sundi fundraised, planned and provided on site supervision for the expansion of the Charleston Hope Lodge, a free  “home away from home” for cancer patients coming to Charleston. She then served as the Regional Director for nine Hope Lodges before moving into her current position as an Associate Director of Development for SC and Western NC. She works closely with community partners to drive the vision of the to end cancer as we know it, for everyone.

Sundi served in the Peace Corps in Suriname, South America, where she worked with numerous organizations to educate about infectious diseases. Originally from Aiken, South Carolina, Sundi is happy to focus her passion for health promotion and access to care throughout the Southeast. She is married to David Herring and has two children, James and Maisie. In 2020, Sundi became a breast cancer “thriver” at the age of 45,  and is  even more committed to sharing the message of early detection and creating a world where everyone has the opportunity to prevent, detect, treat and survive cancer.
